My new favourite picture

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen (ok so i'm a little bias) Rylan brought it home from school the other day and I completely LOVE IT....when i first saw it I actually teared up (believe it or not :) because it was so beautiful!!

Don't you think it just dipicts us so well.....Zahnny's 'orange' hair, dinosaur shirt and skeleton pants, Chad with his back pack on ready for work, Rylan in his favourite piping hot shirt and his skull and cross bone shorts (which totally don't match but I let him wear them anyway because HE LOVES THEM SO MUCH.......(don't ask me why :) and then there's me and Jazz - how cute does little Jazzy look in the baby carrier....even the details of the "pouch" are so precise!!

What can I say.....I completely LOVE this picture.....it is definately my new favourite!!!!

Figure of Speech

So here's the cinario.......

It's before school and i'm trying to get Rylan to hurry up (story of my life) and get ready while he's playing with his 'treasured' lego and trying to put his uniform on at the same time.

Here's our conversation following his 'attempt' at hurrying up......

Mum - "Hurry up Rylan and stop mucking about"
Rylan - "Mucking about.....that's my middle name i can't help it" (said in a very......'it's just the way it is' - shrugging kind of way)
Mum - "I didn't give you that name so HURRY up"
Rylan - (expression completely blank staring at me like 'are you serious') "Mum", (head slightly tilting to the side one eyebrow slightly arching) "it's just a figure of speech"....... that's when people say something but it dosen't actually mean that's it true.....you know, a figure of speech......

How could I NOT laugh at that.

 Do 6 years olds generally know the term "figure of speech".........

Meet my friend Charity

So this is my Wonderful friend Charity. Since I first moved to "Toony" 5 1/2 years ago (yes it has really been that long) Charity and I have been friends. You know how sometimes you just meet someone and suddenly you're best friends after 1 day, well that was us.

Anyway the other day I was complaining to Charity about having a headache (from my excessive reading and lack of sleep :) and like the true friend she is, she later rocked up at my door (after picking Rylan up from school for me) handed me a beautiful flower and said "I would've bought you a bunch of flowers but I only had 10cents"......she then laughed and gave me a hug!! I'm not sure that I accurately expressed to her how grateful I was for such a thoughtful gesture. I completely appreciated this singular flower that she picked for me far more than a bunch someone else put together.

I am completely blessed to have people like Charity in life!!!!

Eyelashes

My goodness it is the little things, isn't it?! While you can't see them too clearly in this picture, I am completely in love with Jasmin's little eyelashes. Since she has graced my life with her presence (and blessed it with all things pink), her lashes are just one of her little features that stands out to me.


They are just so delicate and feminine!!

The cake

So it has become one of our traditions that every year we let the boys pick the cake they want for their birthdays and Chad then makes it for them (I've made a couple - but Chad's are usually WAY better ;) But last year, due to some reason completely unknown now, Zahn ended up having a "shrek swamp" cake.....basically we called it that because that's what it looked like (it wasn't me that made this one.....but it may have been me that forgot to buy an essential ingredient.......)

So for his birthday this year I was determined to make him THE BEST NINJA TURTLE CAKE EVER to make up for his 'cake' last year (which by the way he loved and thought was great - it was only me that secretly cried when chad pulled the cake out at the party for every one to see - i would have completely kept it hidden :) So I made a delicious cake (thanks for the recipe mum) let it cool and began to ice.....everything was looking good and I was feeling like redemption was coming until.....the icing started to melt, and the turtle face started warping as the colours gradually blurred together and ran down the side of the cake!! Chad and I had a laugh and he informed me that "next year I'll make the cake". So I was looking at the 'green blob' feeling a bit dissapointment that this too was becoming a "shrek cake", and Zahn looked up and said "oh mum this is the BEST NINJA TURTLE CAKE EVER....I LOVE IT!! I was so happy that just like his 'shrek' cake he loved this one too.

What can I say......next year I WILL REALLY make the best cake ever......(oe Chad will :)

this is after a little (ok a lot) of patch up work...It really did look good before all the warping and running of colours :) and the mask wasn't quite so pink either :)
