We hereby introduce our newest family tradition.....
The "Back to School Dinner Party"(inspired by the amazing and beautiful Stephanie Nielson and what she wrote HERE!)
A 'fancy' (ahem) dinner to celebrate these boys of ours as they embark on their 2010 journey that is school! For Rylan it's a return. For Zahn it's the start of something new. Very exciting stuff around here!

When I announced to the boys we were having a 'kings party', Zahn was thrilled and immediately announced he was going to wear one of his super hero costumes for the big event.
I explained a little about what is was and why it was a 'kings party' and said we were going to get all dressed up in our 'fancy clothes' (which means our church clothes :) and wear crowns and have king cups etc.
After I explained all this, Zahn said "No, I don't want to wear a suit I want to be a super hero. Super hero's choose the right". Then he said "and isn't it a party for me.....then why can't I wear what I want? (his comment really does make perfect sense when you think about it, so we decided to go with it. After all super hero's make good choices too don't they????
So thanks to Zahn's love of superheros, our official theme for 2010's Dinner Party was......
"Super hero's Choose the Right"! (he's only 5 - and there's lots of hero's in the scriptures. I tried to encourage him to be Moroni or Ammon but he was very decisive that he was going to be "Heat Blast (of course) and heat blast saves people so that's choosing the right......"
After all our preparations and meal planning and getting ready (and setting the table by 1pm) the night was a great success! Actually I loved it. (even with Jazzy's 6pm daily dinner tantrum ) We all loved it.

The menu:
Assortment of meats teppanyaki style (mixed seafood, beef and chicken with assortment of dipping sauces)
Oma's famous German potato salad
Sweet Potato slivers with Cherry tomatoes
Assortment of vegies
Grape Juice
Mini Berry delicious cakes with ice cream (they were delish)

The boys LOVED grilling their own meat and we had fun quizzing each other on different scenarios about choosing the right at school. Some of Zahn's questions were quite funny!

To finish off our evening the boys did a fashion parade in their uniforms (Jasmin did some modeling of her own......but don't worry when she goes to school she will be wearing more than the hat and the bag :)

And then Chad gave the boys a special fathers blessing for their school journey of 2010. I heard all the things I hoped for and more. It was very special. The best part of the night.
