Azure Lily
or
Lily Azure
We are quite divided in this house of ours as to which name we should use. We're pretty sure it's going to be ONE of the names above.
But -I We really can't decide. I want Azure but my dilemma is that I want to pronounce it like Asia. But as Chad keeps pointing out, Azure doesn't really spell Asia.....and "we can't just change the English language to say whatever we want" (of course we can......can't we???)
The other week when we were visiting our new ward we were talking about the name 'dilemma' with some friends of ours and my friend said they liked Azure (pronounced Asia) for their first daughter but ended up going with a different name. THEN the lady in front of us turned around and said her niece is called Azure and is also pronounced Asia (totally random I KNOW :) - I looked at Chad and said it was a "TOTAL sign" and for the next couple of hours I was completely empowered and the baby was Azure.....but then I started doubting again.....
I guess my question is, If we call her Azure (pronounced like Asia.....see everytime I write the name I feel the need to explain how it is pronounced......hmmmmm) are we just setting her up for a lifetime of name confusion???
What do you think?? REALLY?? I can't decide and we've only got 2 days before "insert name of choice" arrives........

thats how you say it.. isnt it? I always thought that. It is a word, its the name of a colour. I've always pronouced it Asia.. its only americans that would draw it out AAAAAzzzzuuURRRRRRRR
I LOVE IT and you should go with it. Spelling it Asia is too weird I think, its ok if Azure is pronouced the same, yet it gives a different feel than the name of a country.
Go for it. My girls all have weird names. I try to tell them not to get upset if people spell it wrong (when they are little that get a little huffy when birthday party invites etc are spelt wrong! ha hahah
I too an divided on the name but I cannot believe you are having the baby so so soon! CRAZY
I love Azure Lily best. All of our girls have unusual names and love being a bit different.
Completely gorgeous name by the way :-)

I love Azure Lilly! (They're both pretty of course, but Azure Lilly's my favourite). And just for the record, when I read it I totally pronounced it 'Asia' in my head :)
I've been reading through some of your older blog posts the last week or so, and I have to say, I'm a total fan of your blog! I love the photos and the commentary and the vibe - what a wonderful mother you've turned out to be! :)
xo Tammy
ps like tammy i read it pronounced as 'Asia' too - I think it's just the way the aussie tongue reads it.

It's totally a sign! I don't say "Plea-surrrrr" I say it with an "A" on the end. I too just think it's the way us Australians talk:) As I mentioned to you yesterday, we get A-Mon all the time, but once it is explained, (sometimes saying, oh it's like Hammon without the H)Everyone loves it, and so do I and that's all that matters! Go Azure! I adore it.
Listy, Lilly Azure is beautiful but if reads like a compromise to me.
Although Melissa says its my uneducated tongue, I pronounce it Asia and think of a beautiful sky. I don't think I'm uneducated... after all Fel you know its my only reason to read (hehehe - personal joke readers).
Asher has an er on the end but I'm Australian so I use an A. There was a time when he had an American accent because of the fam and he would tell me "Mum, my name is Asherrrrrrrrrr, it has an 'r' on the end you know." To this I would reply "I gave you your name so it is however I say it." AND THIS MY SISTER IS THE TRUTH AS I SEE IT!
By the way while he went through this phase it was for arguments sake only. In normal conversation and when introducing himself it was always "Asha".
Hi Felicity, If you want honesty I read it as Azure I agree with Chad on this one but I have explain my name to people all the time and it gets to the point you don't care what they call you. Just like Max's dad he calls me Lorry instead of Laree and has done for 19 years. But you do what you want and one way or another your child with hate you for it in the future. Ha Ha only kidding.
azure azure azure then ofcourse lily!!! then our girls will be twins!! azure lily and Alyx lily, BFF's always. All my girls names are spelt differently and I don't care that I have to tell people how to spell them. I can't wait to see the little one. love you lots jo jo xxxxxx
Ok I couldn't resist commenting then I'm off to bed. I vote Azure (though I do think she'll have to explain it every time she meets someone)but mostly because I absolutely adore the name Lilly and want it for my future daughter. But I do think Asia (as pronounced) is also really cool and unique, and that's nice. :) Good luck. We called Jaren - baby boy for almost 2 weeks before we could decide.
I think Lily Azure (because i know how frustrating it is not finding my name on any personalised cups in gift shops hahahahahaha)
but then again i dont really mind i think Azure Lily is a beautiful name :)xx
haha Zar your comment made me laugh - I always wanted to find my name on stuff in the gift shop too and never could :) hahaha
