I've mentioned before that the boys are a little obsessive about things. ok who am i kidding.....we're not just talking about any old 'things' here.....specific things. very specific. toys. 'licensed' characters (you know who we're talking about....ninja turtles, ben 10, pokemon, spiderman etc - again, all mentioned before) lego.....drawing and colouring in - also in the 'slightly addicted, boarderline obsessive catagory.......
so lately the addictions 'list' has been expanding......say hello to origami. Now as you may know i am one who LOVES all things Japanese (sidenote - YAY less than 4 weeks until i'm finally in that country of my dreams......but i digress) so at first i was thrilled that the boys were loving the origami. we have a book my sister gave us (or maybe she lent it to us......and we kept it - whoops :) but when the art of origami goes from a fun occasional activity to 'lets-do-it-all-day-and-all-night, everyday-and-everynight' somehow i wasn't loving the obsession or the art as much as i usually do. (it's not like i can really make dinner and do intricate paper craft at the same time).
So it was perfect timing for me that just as the boys were requiring 100 cranes, frogs and rabbits a day, we had two Japanese students arrive to stay with us for a week. HALLELUJAH. the girls must of spent hours and hours folding little bits of square paper with the boys......but let's face it they can do it 10 times faster and 1000 times better than I. and they seemed to genuinely (i hope) enjoy doing it with the boys.
i know this doesn't look like much...my guess is that it probably equates to approximately 5% of total origami made
