Chad is an animal lover. Actually everyone in our family is. Except me. Don't get me wrong. I love to LOOK at cute little puppies and kittens and am happy to even have a little pat or a cuddle. But that's about as far as it goes.
I especially DO NOT love anything creepy. slithery. And snake like.
If the boys in our house could choose a pet, It would probably be a snake. It would definitely be a snake. Chad had a pet snake when he was a kid. But after his mum told me the story of when that snake escaped from its 'home', I pretty much resolved right then and there that we would never have a pet snake for me to find loose in my house. This would probably give me a heart attack.
We do however, have a pet lizard. Kind of. It lives in our backyard under our air conditioning unit. The boys feed it. occasionally. try to play with it and claim it as their pet. I am more than happy with this little lizard being our 'pet'.
Anyway. Chad being the 'animal lover' and protector that he is, does on occasion bring in strays that he has rescued from near death experiences. So on Sunday when he came home from a morning meeting this is what he greeted us with.

It was pure delight for the kids as they all ran into the back yard saying things like, "let's get it some food". "Can we keep this as our pet". etc. etc. I was happy to remind them that we already have a pet lizard (a much smaller one) and this one would definitely need more freedom than what our little yard could offer! They accepted this as they ran off to find snails and worms to feed it.

Jasmin was the only one who suffered any kind of separation anxiety when it was time to let him go. She shed a few tears and ran after him, but was easily consoled with something else spotted in the yard. She may be the biggest animal lover yet.

I know I will eventually cave in and we will get 'another' pet. I am already weakening at all the cute little puppies Jazzy HAS TO PAT whenever we see them. But for now I think we're all pretty content with our 'pet lizard'.
ps) Zahn wasn't as keen to get 'up close and personal' with this Lizard due to it's size....but he was out there scouting for food.

I can't believe Rylan is like snuggling that thing!! Is it a blue tongue lizard? I think I recall having a 'pet' one in our laundry tub at one point.. I think I'd be with Zahn...
