Helpful strangers and a New Map

Every now and then I am pleasantly surprised that there are lots of people out there, strangers even, that are prepared to do things for others than for NO other reason than to help someone that needs it.

In fact I often cross people's paths that are willing to help a damsel in distress such as I :)

Today it was the stranger with a much much bigger car than mine at the picture framing place. And thanks to his 'grandfatherly' kindness, we now have the space above our piano filled with this MAP. A picture that holds many future dreams and hopeful possibilities for our family.

The original idea came from HERE. As soon as I saw it I knew I HAD to get one! and I LOVE it. Even if it's much bigger than I thought it would be :)

ps) I wasn't really a damsel in distress but there was NO way that the GIANT map was going to fit in my car and perhaps the stranger took pity on me while he watched me measuring the car then the map over and over again :) AND for the record, I wouldn't usually let a 'stranger' follow me home, BUT I couldn't wait another second to get the picture home and hung on the wall Chad was home, and the 'stranger' was a friend of Franks (the framing guy) and  so I felt OK with his help :)

oooooooohhh I LURVE your map! I want one. However we dont travel as extensively as some ;)

And know this, I think it is a talent to be ABLE to accept help. I often say no to people who want to help me (say in the shops or struggling along with all my kids) and I often think back later that I should have let that person help me. There is a good feeling that comes from helping others and the world NEEDS more of it. By accepting help from a stranger I believe you have made the world a better place. Seriously! I am working on this and have let a few people help me.

Felicity, I checked out the blog you got your Map idea from and it was an amazing blog. I love the map and what a great conversations you will be able to have about it with the kids. Charli talks about to all the places she is going to go as my sister Yolonde has been all over the world and then some in fact she is in Paris as we speak then to London then to Vietnam on the way home if you can call Brisbane home.

Thank you for not only stopping by and leaving your own splash of sunshine at my place but also for sharing the 'create' link, it was powerful.

You will be able to utilise the wisdom in this post for the 3rd Now!vember reflection.

Hugs and happiness to you,

Felicity x

I've thought about getting a map and putting pins in it of all the places we've traveled....where or where would I fit it in my house, but still I totally want one.
ps: Aussie maps look so strange to me. Ours always have it divided into the east/west hemispheres instead of putting Australia (or even America) in the middle. :)
